Electronic fireworks, the future of fireworks?

Fireworks provide spectacular light and sound effects, but they also have some drawbacks. It is dangerous, it pollutes the environment and you can only use it once. Electronic fireworks do not have these disadvantages. Is electronic fireworks the future of fireworks?

What is Electronic Fireworks?

Electronic fireworks is a collective term for all the ways in which you can replace the effect of fireworks with electronics. This varies from loudspeakers that imitate the sound of fireworks to all kinds of electronic light effects. Nowadays there are also programs with which you can project your own virtual fireworks on a computer screen. The big advantage is obvious. It does not pollute, it is not dangerous and you can use it several times. Yet we are not yet en masse for the electric variant. How did that happen?

Types of electronic fireworks

There are two main types of fireworks: bang fireworks and decorative fireworks. The most popular electronic variant is decorative fireworks. After all, the costs of a large flare are relatively enormous and you only enjoy it for a few seconds.

Drone light show

Luminous drones are therefore becoming more popular, especially for large festivals. This allows you to set up a spectacular light show.

Of course you can no longer call this fireworks. It’s a completely new phenomenon. The disadvantage of these drones is of course that they are not cheap per piece and that you need a lot for that. At the somewhat larger shows there are often hundreds of thousands of euros worth of drones in the air. But you can reuse those drones over and over again. In principle, they can also be operated with a single computer. That’s why you see this more and more.

Fireworks lamps and cold spark machines

Smaller variants are fireworks-like lamps or machines for electronic fireworks. These are very popular for indoor festivals and weddings as they are much less dangerous than the chemical variety.

You can also see the famous Tesla coil as an electronic fireworks. This is of course a lot less safe and therefore extremely popular.

Electronic firecrackers

Electronic firecrackers are a lot less. After all, you can easily simulate this with a speaker. Most of the products on the market are intended for small children and are not very popular outside of China.

Is electronic fireworks the future?

The reason fireworks are so popular is the combination of danger, excitement and spectacular effects. Because electronic fireworks are so safe, they will never be able to take over these functions from now on, with the possible exception of the Tesla coil. You do see that, for example, at large festivals and light shows outside, and at parties inside, electronics have quickly taken over the market.

Electronic fireworks will probably only become very popular with consumers if the rest are legally prohibited. And then you can count on us to look for another dangerous hobby. We humans are sometimes strange creatures.
