Insider tip now available on Disney+
Less than a month after the theatrical release, Disney is already bringing a film to its own Disney+ streaming platform. There is a good reason for this, because the animated film “Strange World” failed terrifically in the cinema. But maybe it’s not that bad, it’s sort of a real insider tip.
Normally, the Mickey Mouse Studio releases its cinema films on Disney+ after 45 days at the earliest, but nobody would have expected such an early start. The animated film “Strange World” started with us namely only on November 24th in the cinemas, but will “Bargained” since December 23 on Disney+. A little holiday surprise, if you will, that subscribers can look forward to.
Cinema film experiences streaming early start: “Strange World” on Disney +
The reason for this is not so good for Disney, because “Strange World” is a mega flop. The film generated the worst box office earnings on its opening weekend in more than 10 years for a Disney animated film. It’s currently just over $53 million in total. With an estimated budget of 135 to 180 million US dollars a single disastrous loss. In short: the film has no chance in the cinema and will no longer take off.
A little foretaste in trailer form:
This is probably one of the reasons why the film studio has decided to do this extraordinary step. If “Strange World” can’t tear at the box office, then the film might at least still be good for some holiday PR in relation to Disney+. If even one additional subscriber can be gained as a result, Disney will feel a little less angry about the bitter loss.
The movie isn’t that bad, is it?
But is “Strange World” really that bad? The reviews show a divided picture. The film, in which a family ventures on an adventurous journey into the interior of the earth, is quite polarizing. On the IMDb it is therefore only enough for 4.8 out of 10 points. Actually not worth a look. But at Rotten Tomatoes it looks more forgiving. the Professional critics are actually quite satisfied with 73 percentthe viewers with 67 percent a little less, but in the end are still positive about the overall result.
Useful streaming tip:
Ergo: It’s best to make up your own mind. There is an opportunity to do so now on Disney+. In any case, you no longer have to go to the cinema for this (watch on Disney+).
