Fiber subscribers will more easily have the reference of their socket (PTO)
What is the reference of your optical terminal outlet (PTO), where does the fiber arrive at your home? You do not know it because it is not indicated? Good news, Arcep announcement that it will appear on your customer area and on your invoices.
The reference of the optical terminal socket makes it possible to identify a socket of the fiber optic network in the information systems of the operators. Such a unique and permanent reference is assigned by the infrastructure operator to each fiber socket in its network when connecting a room, during the first fiber subscription.
Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free have jointly undertaken to include the reference of the optical terminal socket of their fiber optic subscriber customers (FTTH). It will be present on the customer area from July 1, 2023 and on invoices from December 31 of the same year. So we have to wait a bit.
This reference constitutes an essential component of the information systems and exchanges between infrastructure and commercial operators: it makes it possible to identify each fiber optic line in order to carry out, in particular, the subscription of fiber subscriptions on these lines.
Other networks such as electricity and natural gas energy supply networks also use a unique reference to identify the delivery point. This number allows the consumer present in a pre-connected room to be identified with certainty by his electricity or gas supplier for rapid activation of services. It is listed on the consumer’s electricity and natural gas bills and on his online customer space. The same will apply to fiber optic networks to the subscriber.
