It is probably the greatest horror scenario for every driver: car theft. Some models are particularly popular with car thieves. We show you which cars are involved in our weekly ranking.
The good news for all drivers: The number of stolen cars was lower than ever before in 2021 and since theft was recorded. For the first time the number was less than 10,000 cars. The General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV) analyzed.
Car theft: These cars are the most frequently stolen
The analysis makes it clear that SUVs in particular are popular with criminals. Every fifth car theft happens in Berlin, while there are only a few thefts in southern Germany. In the following ranking, we show you which models were most popular with thieves in 2021 – based on the determined theft rate.
10th place: Ford Edge, 1st generation
From 2006 to 2010 Ford produced the 1st generation Edge model. The theft rate in 2021 was meanwhile 3.1 and the average damage at 26,752 euros.
