Smartphone market collapsed again in Q3 2022, Apple sees growth
New figures on smartphone sales show that smartphone sales did not go very well in the past quarter. Except at Apple, they are seeing modest growth.
Smartphone sales in Q3 2022
Research firm Omdia has released figures on smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2022. In Q3, manufacturers again saw disappointing results for the most part. Sales fell for almost every brand, except Apple. Samsung is still at the top with the number of devices sold; Apple is in second place and Xiaomi in three.
In the third quarter of 2022, Samsung saw the number of shipments decrease by 7.4 percent compared to last year. Compared to the previous quarter, this is a slight increase of 3 percent. Among well-known brands here, the Oppo and OnePlus combination saw the biggest drop; minus 18.9 percent. Compared to last year, Xiaomi saw its sales drop by 11.2 percent, Motorola by 7.3 percent. Motorola also sold 10.3 percent fewer devices than last quarter.
The only manufacturer to see an increase was Apple. They recently released the Apple iPhone 14 series. This undoubtedly contributes to its success.
