Both system updates for Mac and iPad need a little longer and should probably not be completed until October. The iOS 16.0 update, on which Apple engineers completed their work last week, is scheduled to be released in September alongside watchOS 9. These updates will come with the new hardware. The macOS Ventura and iPadOS upgrades, on the other hand, are now scheduled for October (after Stage Manager-related iPad software delays) to align with the new hardware lineup.
In summary: On September 7th there will be new iPhones, the Apple Watch Series 8 including the new XL model, a new Apple Watch SE and final dates for iOS 16 and watchOS 9. iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura will follow in October along with new Macs and iPads.
