Imitate yourself in Lego, it’s possible!
Lego’s new minifigure factory lets you create a minifigure of yourself.
Lego is currently testing a new online minifigure maker. This is called the ‘Minifigure Factory’, which allows you to create your own Lego person. There are several options with which you can personalize your own doll.
Imitate yourself in Lego
With the technique you can imitate yourself, or a friend, family member and so on. The options are almost limitless. You can select different heads, hats, torsos, legs and accessories for your custom minifigure. For the hull, you can go very deep with customization by applying decals and custom text.
To prevent abuse, Lego will moderate the designs, says Jay’s Brick Blog. There are also some fun accessories to choose from, such as a laptop, a pretzel, and a pizza. Completed minifigs cost $11.99, although you can only buy one per household. It is not yet known how much the price will be in the Netherlands. The availability in different countries is also not yet clear. Or in other words: we do not know whether the Netherlands is one of the countries where this minifigure factory will soon be usable.
Limited
Got excited? Unfortunately, you can’t get started right away. Lego says the site has “limited availability.” The company is also now calling Minifigure Factory a beta, saying in a post that “some parts and features may not be available” and that “you may also notice that the page is unavailable from time to time.” Hopefully Lego will roll out this technique soon, so you can make a minifigure too.
