160W smartphone can be charged (without melted phone)

Infinix seems to do the impossible, as they can fully charge a smartphone at 160W in 10 minutes. Does it really work?

Xiaomi seemed to be the big winner in the field of fast smartphone charging for the time being. 200 watts is incredibly impressive, but there is a small caveat. The only proof we have is a video from Xiaomi itself. In the case of Infinix’ 2021 Concept Phone with 160W charging, we have more. AndroidAuthority took a closer look at the lightning-fast charging itself. With impressive results as a result.

You can charge a smartphone with 160W!

According to Infinix, the special smartphone (which is not yet commercially available) can be fully charged within 10 minutes. The medium tested this claim and came pretty close to it. The 4000mAh battery was fully charged in just over 11 minutes. Xiaomi says it can do it in 8 minutes, but again, that remains to be seen.

Converted, Infinix knows how to charge their smartphone with 363mAh per minute, which is unprecedented. For average use, one minute of charging is already good for several hours of smartphone fun.

But according to AndroidAuthority, that’s not even the most impressive thing about Infinix’s charging technology. At its hottest, a temperature of about 42°C was measured. That’s relatively warm, but still cooler than Xiaomi’s 120W charger (nearly 44°C) and OnePlus’ 65W charger (43.2°C).

In other words, in theory 160W charging should provide an extreme amount of extra heat. That turns out to be great. Infinix’s charging technology is apparently quite efficient. In addition, a high temperature is very bad for batteries and because the battery in question is full within more than 10 minutes, the battery only has to endure such temperatures for a short time.
