1 & 1 pulls the plug: Marketing of mobile phone tariffs discontinued

Many popular tariffs in mobile communications are about to end: 1 & 1 has now taken several of its products out of marketing. They are no longer offered. GIGA has the information.

Update from 01/19/2021: Compared to Mobiflip 1 & 1 has announced that one only ends the marketing of D-Netz tariffs. However, these are still available to customers on request: “Customers and interested parties can get advice via the customer hotline and also book D-Netz tariffs,” writes the provider.

1 & 1 sets tariffs: Now LTE and 5G are fully set

Changes are pending in the German mobile communications industry that will affect many customers – albeit not immediately. With 1 & 1, one of the major providers of landline, DSL and mobile phone contracts has removed several of its popular offers from its range. This affects all products that the company had previously offered in a D-Netz variant. This includes the 1 & 1 All-Net-Flat and its counterpart for young customers, the 1 & 1 All-Net-Flat Young, as well as the 1 & 1 All-Net-Flat Business and the 1 & 1 Daten-Flat.

The corresponding tariffs can no longer be booked online with 1 & 1, reports the website Mobiflip in relation to a company announcement. Instead, only the more modern alternatives can now be found there: the generally cheaper LTE tariffs and the new offers for 5G, which cost more accordingly.

What comes after 5G?

What can customers expect with the D-Netz tariff?

For the time being, nothing should change in existing contracts. It remains to be seen whether this will remain the case in the long term. With certainty, there is only one thing that can be said about the announcement by 1 & 1: After the marketing stop of the D-Netz tariffs, the provider will in future focus on modern networks and “concentrate fully on the marketing of our high-performance and modern LTE and 5G tariffs” , announces 1 & 1.

It is unclear whether the D-Netz will be switched off sooner or later. Nothing is currently known about specific plans to switch it off. Should it come to that, customers who then still use a D-Netz tariff should expect offers to switch. Even now you could encourage existing customers to switch with attractive offers. Sooner or later, the change could be worthwhile.
